With the wife out of town, it’s always fun looking for something to do alone. Normally, I end up in the recliner, renting a movie, ordering a pizza, grabbing a 6 pack of be…soda, and chilling. That doesn’t necessarily fit my personality (except for the be…soda part), but often when she’s away, I want to relax. Because when we’re together, we consistently paint the town red. But, this Saturday night I was ready to go out an explore something new. After an invitation from the River Valley Roller Girls, I headed to the convention center to watch something I’ve never seen before: girls on roller skates, slamming into each other, and scoring more point then in a NBA basketball game! It was exciting. It took me a while to figure out the rules, but after about half an hour, I had the basic concept down. The place was packed and both Fort Smith and the ladies from Joplin, MO put on a show. I’m already excited about the next match next month so I can take the wife. If you’ve not caught a match with the River Valley Roller Girls, DO IT. It’s most definitely considered “things to do in Fort Smith!”
