Looking for things to do in Fort Smith during Spring Break? The Janet Huckabee Arkansas River Valley Nature Center has you covered! The nature center’s FREE Spring Break Special Programs will take place from Saturday, March 19th to Saturday, March 26th.  The lineup of events will go as follows:

Saturday, March 19

  • 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Boating education
  • 10 a.m. Guided hike
  • Noon-2 p.m. Canoes and kayaks
  • 2 p.m. Critter Crunch

Sunday, March 20

  • 2 p.m. Critter Crunch
  • 2:30 p.m. Archery

Tuesday, March 22

  • 10 a.m. Duck dog demo
  • 11 a.m. Fishing at Wells Lake
  • Noon-2 p.m. Canoes and kayaks
  • 1 p.m. Bee keeping
  • 2 p.m. Critter crunch
  • 3 p.m. Fossils of Arkansas history

Wednesday,  March 23

  • 10 a.m. Lure craft make-and-take
  • 11 a.m. Living history: Historic bear hunting
  • Noon-2 p.m. Canoes and kayaks
  • 1 p.m. Fort Smith Fire Department Fire Safety Program (big fire truck on site!)
  • 2 p.m. Critter crunch
  • 3 p.m. Hike to Torraine Lake (4-mile endurance hike)

Thursday, March 24

  • 10 a.m. Outdoor archery and archery trap shooting
  • 11 a.m. Fishing at Wells Lake
  • Noon-2 p.m. Canoes and kayaks
  • 1 p.m. Backyard birds and hummingbird feeder make-and-take
  • 2 p.m. Critter crunch
  • 3 p.m. BB guns

Friday, March 25

  • 10 a.m. T-shirt bleaching make-and-take (bring dark-colored shirt)
  • 11 a.m. Nature music hour
  • Noon Catfishing 101
  • Noon-2 p.m. Canoes and kayaks
  • 2 p.m. Critter crunch
  • 3 p.m. Laser Shot and fishing simulator
  • 3:45 p.m. Nature break

Saturday, March 26

  • 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Hunter education
  • 10 a.m. Guided hike
  • Noon–2 p.m. Canoes and kayaks
  • 2 p.m. Critter crunch
