I had the Blues, now I’m just sad it’s over

BluesFest WintersTalks of the “Super Moon” was all a-buzz as the crowds grew, the temps dropped and the music was turned up. The funnel cakes were frying, the beer was chilling and the music got louder and better as the night progressed ….and not just because of the chilled beer….  “those suuummer…. niiiiiiights!” It was the 23rd year of the Riverfront Blues Festival and 2013 did not disappoint. Saturday night we were introduced to the legendary Johnny Winters, and although his age was shown as he was helped on stage, seated front and center, and handed a guitar, his passion and ability to still BRING IT after all these years caused ripples in the Arkansas River. The crowd was up and dancing as Winters dazzled the crowd with his still fast moving hands on the steel guitar and his smooth bluesy pipes.BluesFest Stage

Yes, this year Fort Smith was once again not disappointed with what so many worked so hard to put together. Everyone looks forward to next year, as the Blues is more than just a Fort Smith tradition, it’s a summertime staple and one of the many favorite “things to do in Fort Smith.”
