Chaffee Crossing Farmers & Artisans Market Experiencing Huge Growth
June 12 market to feature more significant growth in vendors, live music, and kids’ activities
FORT SMITH, Ark. (June 9, 2021) – The recently formed Chaffee Crossing Farmers and Artisans Market (CCFAM) is experiencing exponential growth in the number of vendors and activities scheduled for June 12. The market will be hosted this Saturday, June 12 in the Chaffee Crossing Historic Area, 7313 Terry St., Fort Smith. The theme of the June market is “My City Is A Fort”, featuring a cardboard fort building contest for kids ages 5-12. The market will have a festival-style atmosphere, wrapping local farmers, artists, artisans, crafters, and non- profit vendor booths with activities, food trucks, demonstrations, kid’s games and activities, and live musical entertainment.
Market hours are 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. Originally the market was held on the Chaffee Barbershop Museum parking lot, but due to a significant increase in vendors, the vendor area will be extended to Buckhorn St. and the lawn area by the Blue Suede Stage. Live musical entertainment on the Blue Suede Stage will start around 9:00 am when the market opens. The Richard Rauch Band will take the stage around noon.
Vendor products include: vegetable and flower plants, garden produce (in season), eggs, honey, handmade woodcraft items, garden planters and benches, jewelry, soaps and essential oils, local honey, handcrafted knives, canes, walking stocks, weathervanes, pottery, ceramics, resin art, fiber art; all-natural lip balms, scrubs, tints, face masks; home décor; paw bombs for dogs and MORE! Applications are still coming in.

MY CITY IS A FORT CONTEST
The My City Is A Fort cardboard fort building contest originated in 2018 as a Fort Smith Bicentennial event. Chaffee Crossing Farmers and Artisans Market is bringing it back for our June event. Registration and check-in for the contest sponsored by Movemart Relocation and First National Bank-Fort Smith will start at 9:00. Instructions for participants will be at 10:00. Kids in teams of 3-4 will begin constructing their forts around 10:15 for one hour. They will be divided into two age groups, 5-9 years and 10-12 years. Trophies and prizes from Parrot Island Waterpark and a copy of the UAFS “N is for Numa” will be awarded to the top three teams in each age group. Awards for the team with the “Most Creative” forts in each age group will receive an additional trophy and prize from Vertical Horizons Climbing Gym. Every participant will receive a tote bag from River Valley Community Church containing coupons from Chick-Fil-A, Creekmore Park Mini Golf, and a copy of the book, “My City Is A Fort”, courtesy of the Southwest Times Record.
Chaffee Crossing Historic Preservation Organization (CCCHPO), a 501(c)3 entity is the host for the market. CCHPO is still accepting vendors for all market dates. September 18 – Rockin’ Good Time—Live music and fun 9a-2p with market vendors selling offering early Christmas shopping opportunities, late summer produce. Tentative: rock crawlers and ATV displays
October 16-Fall Frenzy–Fall produce, early Christmas shopping, festival food truck(s), live music, kid’s games and more. Hoping to have straw bales for sale, pumpkins, gourds, etc. Tentative: cornhole tournament
November 13 – 10th Annual Regional Veterans Day Parade ***
