Presented at the King Opera House in Van Buren. This is a live event full of live and LOCAL music from Joe Hardin, The Van Buren High School Choir, Maggie Janes Jones, and The Numskulls! (Steve Kite, Dan Maher, Matt McCoy, and Gary Udouj), a mixture of traditional and original tunes.
Additionally, this will offer storytelling by local author, historian, and teacher, Marcus Woodward, a section called “History Matters” and “On Display” with historian Tom Wing, Director of the Drennen-Scott House in Van Buren, as well as “Little Known Facts” and display discussions from Tom and Caroline Speir and Leisa Gramlich of the Fort Smith Museum of History. The show, conceived, written, directed, and narrated by Kevin Jones is in the format of a radio show similar to “A Prairie Home Companion” with live music, comedy, commercials (both real and fake), and audience participation. Proceeds from this event will be toward the Drennen-Scott House in Van Buren and the Fort Smith Museum of History.
Rounding out the show, we have a visit from the Rambling Roving Rangers, Cody Faber and Loren McLane, from the Fort Smith National Historic Site, who will tell us more about Van Buren and the Fort, as well as the Marshals and more. Our production also includes the return of a radio drama we first presented in March 2018, written by Terence Dean, a Van Buren author, “Hanged at Logtown”, based on historical events in Van Buren and vigilante justice. This live production will also be archived, as our past live shows have also been, as podcast available on our website: differentkjones.wixsite.com/spinninroundprod
